The shocking death of Irrfan Khan, a remarkable artist, has sent ripples around the world. After being admitted on a colon infection a day earlier, the 53-year-old actor breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital on 29th April.
He wanted to be a cricketer before Irrfan made it big in film. On Son of Abish’s chat show in 2017, he said that while he was “good,” his career as a sportsman ended at an early stage due to lack of money.
Irrfan was selected for under 23 owing to his ability at the Col CK Nayudu Tournament.
Since he was unable to finance his tournament ticket to Ajmer, Irrfan was forced to give up his cricket sweatshop. “When I was selected, the team had to travel from Jaipur to Ajmer, and I needed Rs 200-250. I couldn’t arrange for it. So that day, I realized that I couldn’t pursue this,” he said.
This miss to the cricket world has become a benefit of the film industry. Irrfan has been popular in Bollywood, Hollywood, and in films like Piku, The Lunchbox, Slumdog Millionaire, Maqbool, and Inferno. He won most prestigious awards like Padmashri, GQ, IIFA, Filmfare, AWFJ, APFF, Screen awards, and more.
