Scott Leo “Taye” Diggs is an American actor and singer. He was born on January 2, 1971, in Newark, New Jersey.
Diggs made his Broadway debut in 1994 in the musical “Carousel,” and later appeared in “Rent” and “Chicago.” Tyre Diggs gained wider recognition for his role as Benny in the Broadway production of “Rent,” and subsequently starred in the film adaptation of the musical.
Diggs’ notable film roles include “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” “The Best Man,” “Brown Sugar,” and “Chicago.” He has also appeared in numerous television series, including “Private Practice,” “Empire,” and “All American.”
In addition to his acting career, Diggs has released two albums, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and “Chocolate Me.”
Diggs had married twice, first to actress Idina Menzel from 2003 to 2014, with Idina he has a son. Later he married model and actress Amanza Smith in 2016.
