Recently Samit Dravid, son of former Indian cricketer and present National Cricket Academy (NCA) president Rahul Dravid made news by showing promising performance of the double century. Once again Samit Dravid displayed his skill with the bat when he hammered a double-hundred on last Saturday while playing for his school Mallya Aditi International (MAI) in the BTR Shield Under-14 Group I, Division II Tournament.
Samit took only 146 balls and within two months smashed 33 boundaries on his way to his second double-century. Samit’s batting blitz helped his side post from their allotted 50 overs to an overwhelming total of 377 for three. In response, Sri Kumaran Children’s Academy was bowled out for 110 as a comprehensive 267-run win was recorded by Samit’s side.
The 14-year-old Samit took two wickets as the town spoke about his whole series. In December 2019, Samit scored 201 while playing for Vice-President XI against the Dharwad Zone in the Under-14 inter-zone tournament. In that game, Samit took his time and played 256 balls, smashing 22 balls to the boundary rope. Then he bothered the Dharwad Zone batsmen with his bowling and sent three batsmen packing.
Samit followed his double-hundred in the first innings with an undefeated knock of 94 in the second innings. It looks like Samit’s going to pursue his dad’s footsteps. Rahul Dravid is known to be the best batsman ever played for India.
